Lt. Governor Becky Skillman Welcomes Business on Broadway, Inc. to Indiana Main Street

Lt. Governor Becky Skillman announced Business on Broadway, Inc. in Fort Wayne is joining the Indiana Main Street program at a Statehouse ceremony on Friday. IMS encourages the revitalization and restoration of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns. The program is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).“Viable downtowns are crucial to the economic health of our state,” said Lt. Governor Skillman. “I’m pleased to welcome Business on Broadway, Inc. to Indiana Main Street. The program is creating opportunities for revitalization and restoration, as well as encouraging a favorable environment for businesses.”
Business on Broadway, Inc. in Fort Wayne will join over 100 other Indiana Main Street Communities dedicated to the revitalization of their downtown areas. The IMS is founded on a Four Point Approach to downtown development: organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring. Each of these points represents an aspect of the downtown which is vital in the restoration efforts of the community.
The mission of Business on Broadway, Inc. is to support the interests of business and property owners on Broadway and to provide a professional forum for promotion, education, and networking among its businesses. One of their goals is to encourage active participation by local business people and organizations and citizens in all things related to Broadway corridor business and professional development. Six of the businesses along Broadway applied for and improved their facades through the City of Fort Wayne’s façade program.
Indiana Main Street Program Manager Shae Kmicikewycz stated, “We are honored to have Business on Broadway, Inc. as part of the Indiana Main Street family. They know and understand the importance of a thriving downtown and have community members willing to assist in the revitalization efforts of their downtown.”

2009 Broadway Report
September 17th, 2010Broadway has experienced some noteworthy changes in the past year through investments by our city government and by private property owners. There are several accomplishments and updates to report.
The first annual general membership meeting of Business On Broadway was held on January 8, 2009 at St. Joe Hospital.
